Fixing Method

Securing Mat Insulation for Heat Exchangers and Vessels

When using flexible wired mats, it is usually necessary to secure the cladding with structures like supporting rings, in order to prevent the insulation from sagging. This enhances the durability and efficiency of the insulation, safeguarding your equipment’s performance.

Slab Insulation for Vessels

For pressure vessels, stonewool slabs or wired mats are used depending on the sizes and dimensions in question. Wired mats are used for smaller diameter vessels, while for larger ones, different density stonewool slabs can also be used according to the required temperatures.

The insulation fixing method is dependent on whether welding to the vessel’s surface is permitted or not. Whenever it is possible, welded pins are the easiest choice, but an alternative method is to fix the insulation with steel bands. This flexibility in fixing methods ensures that the insulation is securely attached and serves its purpose efficiently.

For heat exchangers and vessels with maximum temperatures of about 200-300°C, we recommend using a double layer insulation solution with 100 kg/m³ (PAROC PRO WIRED MAT WR 680). Bind the joints of the wired mat together from the mesh with a pitch less than 100 mm, and fix the insulation with steel bands.
